Support for ongoing projects continued unabated in 2016 and into 2017, further establishing the influence that Trade Aid UK has been able to give to important relief programmes worldwide. Much of this has been enabled by the continued sale of Trade Aid UK Granulated and Caster Sugar through Tesco Stores and the sale of ethical travel insurance through its partner www.travelandinsure.com. The use of external aid agencies and charities has been instrumental in us being able to reach the remotest parts of the globe where often the needs are greatest. The individual aid projects supported by the Trade Aid UK Foundation can be viewed by simply scrolling up and down the project panel on this page and clicking on the project that interests you.

Agricultural Training Project

Trade Aid UK is funding for a fourth year an agricultural project in Kenya administered by the charity Operation Imprezza. The aim of the project is to encourage rural people, particularly smallholders and subsistence farmers, to live and farm more sustainably in increasingly challenging climatic conditions, and to help them learn the skills to set up micro-enterprises from which they can earn an income.

To achieve this aim, training courses based at the Imprezza Academy have been set up. Raising awareness locally of the training being offered will be a priority and, through community leaders, suitable candidates will be identified and recruited, targeting, in particular, impoverished women, such as widows and single parents, as well as motivated young people.

A garden/farm to be used for demonstration purposes in the training and to provide produce for the benefit of the Academy has been cleared and planted to produce vegetables for the school meals. The Academy has also purchased a further 3 acres which means that, in time,  small livestock, such as poultry and possibly rabbits, will be introduced to help feed the pupils. Most of these children are either orphans, some suffering from AIDs, or from very impoverished homes and often, the only decent meal they get in a day is at school.

Operation Imprezza is a charity providing free education for Kenyan children who would otherwise go without.
